Michelle Park
Director and Literary Coach of language school, E-Specialist in Seoul, South Korea
Michelle Park is currently the Director and Literacy Coach of E-Specialist in Seoul, South Korea, where she has been since 2011. She previously trained English teachers for the Ministry of Education in Seoul and EFL teachers for a number of English Language Teaching publishers in Korea. She also edited the workbooks for an American textbook series Into Reading for Korean students. She specializes in linguistics and applied linguistics. Based on her research, she has developed teaching methods related to critical thinking and metacognition. She is currently working on reforming primary reading, thinking, and writing skills across contexts.
Nena Nikolic-Hosonaka, PhD.
Former lecturer at Kanda University of International Studies, Mama Nena's English School
Nena Nikolic-Hosonaka taught at Kanda Institute of Foreign Languages for 35 years, where she established the Department of Teaching English to Children in 1994. She has also taught at Kanda University of International Studies and Graduate School, and is currently teaching at her private language school, Nena’s English School. Her experience also includes being a member of the J-Shine (Japan Association of Teachers of English for Elementary Schools) Examination Committee and a part-time employee of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports. She holds an MA in teaching English as a foreign language, an MA in teaching Japanese as a foreign language, and a PhD in language sciences.
Hiromi Kawahara
Representative of English Uplift
Hiromi Kawahara became a children’s English-teacher trainer in 2002, following several years of teaching and presenting at major academic seminars and conferences. She has been in charge of training for teachers organized by a total of nine boards of education, as well as in-school training, and has been an invited lecturer at universities and colleges. She has also been involved in the planning, development, and production of many English language teaching materials for children. In 2018, she launched "English Uplift", a national teacher development organization advocating 6C's education. She is English Education Supervisor at Oshiro Kids, Tokyo.
Matthew de Wilde
Representative of English Uplift
Matthew de Wilde has made significant contributions to English education for children in Japan since arriving in 1994. His teaching experience includes 11 years at public elementary schools, and 17 years at private schools, for kids aged 3 to 18, as head teacher and/or preschool director. He has conducted more than 85 seminars, workshops, and lectures for teachers of children’s English nationwide, and has been an invited lecturer at junior colleges and major academic conferences. He has helped develop several published English language teaching materials for children. Representing English Uplift, he is currently head-teacher at Oshiro Kids, Tokyo.
Eddie Lee
Compass Publishing
Eddie Lee taught secondary students in Brooklyn, NY where his journey in education began. He is currently the Assistant Manager of the English Education Planning Team at Compass Publishing. He is involved in planning digital solutions and overseeing the development of online educational content. In addition, he has authored grammar books for young children employing a multimedia approach, creating grammar lesson videos and dynamic grammar raps to add creativity and enjoyment to the learning process.
